• Team TIBCO looks for fast finish to NRC season

    August 26, 2010

Pescadero, California – Team TIBCO/To the Top is sending a fast six-rider squad to the final race of the USA Cycling NRC series, the Chris Thater Memorial Criterium. Though the field for the race isn’t large, the race will be hotly contested.

“It’s the last NRC race of the year and we expect everyone to be motivated and aggressive,” said team Directeur Sportif Emma Rickards. “It’s a good course, and we want to take advantage of our strengths.”

Those strengths come from a strong line-up well suited both to bunch sprints and initiating breaks. The team will look to Kristen LaSasso, Megan Guarnier and Meredith Miller to ride aggressively, initiating breaks and covering moves.

If the race comes down to a bunch sprint, the team will look to Joanne Kiesanowski, Brooke Miller and Samantha Schneider to provide a fast finish.

“We know this will be a hard, fast race, and we want to do well here and finish off the season with another win,” Rickards said.

The Chris Thater Memorial Criterium is part of a weekend athletic festival dedicated to the memory of Chris Thater, an avid cyclist who was killed by a drunk driver. The event, which marks its 27th year, is a project of the Broome County, NY STOP-DWI Program. The race regularly attracts 10,000 to the streets of Binghampton.
