Back to Bend: Team TIBCO/To the Top returns to action at Cascade

Pescadero, California – Team TIBCO/To the Top brings a full squad to a U.S. race for the first time since the U.S. national championship weekend in Bend three weeks ago. But the team has been far from idle. Since then, Alison Starnes and Amanda Miller rode the women’s Giro d’Italia for the U.S. national team, while Emma Mackie rode it for the Australian team. Somewhat closer to home, Brooke Miller and Meredith Miller (along with Samantha Schneider) helped Joanne Kiesanowski to the victory at the Grand Cycling Classic.

“The past month has been a bit more of a break for some of the riders, but everyone is coming in motivated and happy to be racing together again,” said team directeur sportif Emma Rickards.

Team TIBCO brings a well-balanced squad to the Cascade Classic, which, along with the three Millers, Mackie, Kiesanowski and Starnes, includes Megan Guarnier and Rebecca Much.

Starnes returns to the site of her 4th place in the Nationals time trial, and her 2nd place at last year’s Cascade time trial. She’ll also bring in considerable form gained racing the Giro.

“We have a number of riders who should be going well right now, so we’re not going into the race with a clear team leader,” Rickards said. “We’ll see how things go the first few days and go from there.”
